A mindful take on introducing ceramics, offering both a vastly informative and engaging start in the craft, hosted by Bonafide Studio.
Our One Day Ceramics Workshop is a single-day course, tailored to help the participants understand the ceramic world from A-Z, and thoroughly introduce them with the processes behind, as well as to instill confidence in independently creating vessels in this material.
The course is knowledge-packed, yet practical. All the knowledge is shared while practicing the various techniques hands-on, giving the participant plenty of time to practice and get to know the materials.
We welcome between 3-8 attendees to our workshops. This is so that we can assist you fully and keep a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Book your workshop in time to make sure you secure your spot.
At the course you will learn:
• The full ceramic production from A-Z, from preparing a piece to glazing and firing
• Difference between earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain
• Why and how to wedge clay
• The stages of clay and what to know about each stage
• Four hand-building techniques (pinch, slab, coil, kurinuki)
• Decorating techniques
• Theory on more complex production techniques (wheel throwing, slipcasting)
• Practical tips on how to develop different pieces
Our focus is on offering a mindful approach to this craft.
Good to know:
As we explore the different sculpting techniques, you will likely create a ceramic piece you want to fire. You will be able to take your piece home after it has dried, fired, and glaze fired (approx. 3-4 weeks after the workshop).
Firing and glazing is included in the course price.
Recommended level:
This workshop is perfect for beginners, who have little to no experience with ceramics. This ceramic workshop can also be a very knowledge-packed experience for those who would like to refreshen their knowledge after many years away from the craft.
Receiving your piece:
Expect to receive your piece/pieces within 4 weeks from the day your workshop took place. Be aware of this if you want to give any of your creations to someone as a gift.
