Open Studio
Weekly ceramics practice at Lodewa
Open Studio is a weekly ceramics practice space for people who want to continue their journey with clay.
Maybe you have already taken a course at Lodewa, or attended a workshop elsewhere. You enjoyed working with ceramics, and now you want to continue on a more regular basis — with time, access, and professional guidance in a calm studio environment.
Open Studio is a guided ceramics laboratory: a working studio for independent practice, learning, and development over time.
You work on your own projects at your own pace, while experienced ceramic practitioners are present in the studio to support your process, share knowledge, and help you develop your skills.
This is not a class, and it is not a membership for independent access.
It is a space to continue working with clay in a structured but open studio environment.
What Open Studio is
Open Studio is weekly access to a professional ceramics studio where making and learning happen in parallel.
It is:
- A guided practice space for ceramics
- A shared, calm studio environment in Copenhagen
- Access to tools, wheels, and full equipment
- Support from experienced ceramic practitioners
- A place for repetition, experimentation, and development
It is not:
- A structured course
- A traditional classroom
- Independent studio access without guidance
How it works
- You work independently on your own ceramic projects
- You can continue ongoing work or start new pieces
- You develop your skills through making and repetition
- Guidance is available throughout your process from experienced practitioners
- You share the studio with others working in a focused environment
There is no fixed curriculum — but there is continuous support and feedback as you work.
Clay & materials
Clay is purchased separately at 85 DKK / kg.
Glazing, slips, and firings are included in the price.
This means you only pay for the clay you use, while firing and finishing are handled through the studio process. As your practice develops, you can also learn and take part in glazing as part of Open Studio.
Wheel use
The studio has 2 professional pottery wheels available.
If you would like to use a wheel, please contact us before booking to ensure availability.

Open Studio is for you if you:
- Have tried ceramics before (at Lodewa or elsewhere)
- Want to continue developing your practice regularly
- Prefer learning through making rather than structured classes

- Are looking for a calm, focused studio environment in Copenhagen
