Learn through making

Open Studio is a space for spending time with clay — to practise, experiment, ask questions and develop a deeper understanding of the material and the processes behind ceramics.

There is no set project and no formal teaching. Instead, we work alongside each other, sharing knowledge, exploring techniques and guiding you as you go.

You might spend a session practising wheel throwing, experimenting with decoration, learning about glazes, reclaiming clay or simply getting to know how the material behaves in your hands. We also open up the processes that usually happen behind the scenes — from preparing and recycling clay to drying, glazing and firing.

The idea is simple: learning through making.

Open Studio sits somewhere between a workshop and studio time. You don’t need to arrive with a project or a particular goal. Come curious, bring your questions and use the time to explore.

Beginners are welcome, as are those with previous experience. If you’re completely new to ceramics, we’ll help you find a good place to start.

Open Studio is not a traditional workshop, and there is no formal step-by-step teaching or guaranteed finished piece. It is an opportunity to learn by doing, with guidance along the way.

5-Session Pass

The 5-session pass gives you five Open Studio sessions to use over a period of two months — giving you the time and space to practise, experiment and build confidence at your own pace.

How it works

Once you purchase your pass, you’ll receive an invitation to our booking app. From there, you can book your Open Studio sessions whenever it suits you.

You’ll also receive a short guide with everything you need to know about:

• Accessing the booking system
• Booking your sessions
• Finding your way around the Open Studio setup

Clay

Clay is purchased separately and charged by the kilo:

• Stoneware: 85 DKK / kg
• Porcelain: 95 DKK / kg

Validity

Your 5-session pass is valid for 2 months from the date of your first booked session.

• The pass includes 5 Open Studio sessions
• Sessions must be booked in advance through the booking app
• Open Studio is designed for independent practice with guidance along the way, rather than formal teaching
• Beginners are welcome
• If you’d like to work on one of the professional wheels, please let us know in advance so we can make sure one is available

Location

Lodewa Studio is located on Blågårdsgade in Nørrebro and is a shared creative space for focused making, experimentation and ceramic practice.
